Homemade Herbal Vinegar Spray - Child Safe Natural Cleaning Recipe.

Homemade Herbal Vinegar Spray - Child Safe Natural Cleaning Recipe.

Vinegar is one of the most versatile and cost effective household cleaning products available, as well as the safest. That smell though...

I want to share a fun and easy way to supercharge your vinegar while giving it a much more appealing aroma!

For those with bubs, indoor pets and sensitivities this recipe is completely safe, super cheap and so easy to make.

ingredients for herbal vinegar natural cleaning

You'll need:

  • White Vinegar
  • Citrus Peels
  • Fresh Herbs
  • Clean Glass Jar

Loosely fill your jar with herbs and peels.

I picked rosemary for its antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, plus the aroma is a natural memory, concentration and mood stimulant. On cleaning days I need all the motivation I can get!

Lavender, because I have a ton of it growing, the aroma is amazing and it is naturally antibacterial.

Next- lemon peels are antibacterial and antiseptic, and acts as a very mild natural bleach, plus the oils in the rind helps to clean and shine.

Lastly I added around 6 whole cloves. Cloves have some pretty potent antifungal and antimicrobial properties and is commonly used as a bug and insect repellant. While clove essential oil is unsafe to use around babies, clove infused vinegar is very mild, making this a safe alternative.

Thyme and mint are great to add as well.

Heat the vinegar to simmering and carefully fill your jar, making sure to cover all your herbs. Let cool, seal and pop it in the cupboard for 48 hrs - 1 week to infuse.

Strain out the herbs and peels and you're left with a powerful infused vinegar that smells amazing!

Here are some uses for your infused vinegar.

  • Shower spray
  • Bin cleaner
  • All purpose surface cleaner
  • Toys- dilute and spray over plastic, metal and wooden toys then wipe with a soft cloth. For soft toys, add a cup to the washing machine rinse cycle.
  • Tile and wood floors come up sparkling- just add a cup to a bucket of hot water.
  • Pet bedding.
  • Pantry & fridge cleaner.

When your supply is getting low, start preparing another batch.

I hope you have fun making this recipe, and I'd love to hear more of your favourite uses in the comments!
